Solid State Hard Drives Keep Your Files Safer

Solid State hard drives are the latest in the evolution of storage technologies. They will eventually replace hard drive based storage devices currently used in your laptops and desktop computers. They are designed to save information directly on to silicon chips as opposed to magnetically encoding a rotating steel platter. One of the interesting by-products of this move is that Solid State drives can be easily and quickly erased. Older hard drives would take considerably longer to do a low-level format which would permanently erase all data. This has now allowed criminals to erase evidence instead of being caught.

How Often Do You Backup?

Your office computer network is probably the backbone of your business. It stands to reason then to make sure things are configured and running smoothly. Imagine what would happen if a fire breaks out, or thieves break in, and you lose your computer with critical data? A backup solution is imperative, including a list of all CD keys and CD images that you have running, so that you don't have to try to hunt down older software versions when reinstalling on a replacement PC. Most importantly, do a full backup at least once a week onto an external drive that is taken off-site at the end of the day. That way you will be protected from the majority of data disasters!

Latest Technologies Available!

DCN Solutions has access to all the latest technologies in Perth, including Solid State hard drives (SSD's). These drives have no moving parts and use a parallel bus architecture, so there is no spin up time or defragmentation needed... EVER! The down side is that these drives are still fairly expensive (about 10x more than the equivalent size in a SATA hard drive) individual data cells only have a limited lifecycle of around 10,000 to 100,000 read/write cycles. However, this drive would be perfect for storing data files and running database applications extremely quickly, such as MYOB, Quickbooks, and any of the DCN Solutions Job Trackers, Business Managers and Mailing List Editors!
